R&D
Research focus on plant protection
- Pest control system with aims to labor saving
- Pest management in horticultural crops
- Observation of the species of insect pest and pathogens in crops
Performance
1.Research on the occurrence and control of fungus gnat
- Host plants: 2 crops, 6 vegetables and 8 flowers
- Drenches diflubenzuron three or more times in the interval of 7 to 10 days
2. To check the side-effect of each crop
3. Control aphid on eggplants with imidacloprid
- At 30 days after transplanting hot pepper or sweet pepper: 90% to 98%
4. Control rust disease on perilla or water cress: Fenarimol wp.
5. Developing control system for greenhouse whitefly
- Reducing the spraying frequency by three or four times with furathiocarb compared with nine time with organophosphorus
- Newly developed bioassay method for monitoring the development of insecticide resistance
- <How to check>
- (1) Submerge the seedling of cucumber into chemicals
- (2) Collect the insects in vacant bottle
- (3) Put the seedling into the bottle and keep it at constant temperature
- (4) Find out how much insects have died after 24 hours
- (5) If the chemical is not effective, apply other chemical
- Selecting insecticide with broad activity: Profenofos with 97.4% mortality
6. Observation pest occurrence in horticultural crops in Gyeongnam province
- Thirty-one pathogens and 102 species of insect pests in peanut and 7 other crops
- Unrecorded four disease and its host in Korea
7. Operating electron microscope room to identify virus or disease
- Viral disease on agricultural products for export: 91 diagnosis
- Increasing production and export competitiveness by early diagnosing virus
