Agricultural environment

  • Changwon City is located in the southeastern part of Korean peninsula along with Masan and Busan, surrounded by Mt. Damsan(now Mt. Cheonjusan, 656m above sea level) in the northwest, Mt. Jeondansan (now Mt. Borimsan, 567m), Mt. Bulmosan (802m) in the southeast, Mt. Jangboksan (566m) and Mt. Banyongsan (now Mt. Palyongsan, 528m) in the sourth. Its coastline is 12.6km and has Masan habor. Along the line are located a lot of small hills and mountains which have played very critical fortresses for defending the nation against enemies.
  • Its total land (292.661 km2) comprises of 127.189 km2(44.18%) forestry, 83.61 km2 (28.20%) farming area, 12.91 km2(4.36%) factory site, 14.16 km2(4.78%) building site, and 54.792 km2(18.48%) other lands. In Gimhae, there are many rivers. Among them, Naedongcheon River runs 5.2 km from the summit of Mt. Damsan and Changwoncheon River runs 7.5 km from Mt. Jeondansan summit, which Namcheon River flows 9.5 km from the summit of Mt. Bulmosan and Mt. Jangboksan to the bay of Masan.
  • Changwon City is located in 35 degrees north and in the middle of the Eurasian Continent. Thus it has four distinctive seasons and lower temperature variations in Temperate Zone rather than in Continental Zone as affected by seasonal wind.
  • Located in the southern part of Korean peninsula, it showed 15℃ of average temperature from 1992 to 2000 and 1,329 mm in annual average rainfall with 824 mm minimum rainfall in 1994 and 2048.5 mm maximum rainfall in 2000.
