Performance

1.Research on how to grow seedling on rice seedbeds in labor saving method in southern plains

  • Prior to Apr. 10 : growing seedling at protected semi-irrigated rice nursery
  • Apr. 11 through Apr. 20: growing seedling at nursery with spun-bonded polypropylene fabric
    (The fabric should be 40 g/m2 in indirect arranged seedling box and 80 g/m2 or 40 g/m2 in direct arranged seedling box)
  • After Apr. 20: growing seedling at nursery with spun-bonded polypropylene fabric. (The fabric should be 40 g/m2 in direct arranged seedling box)

2. Reducing labor for taking off seedling box

  • Reducing labor for taking off seedling box on the nursery by 34% from 32.9 kg to 21.6 kg
  • Selection of mulching material on the nursery: spun-bonded polypropylene fabric with 40g/m2
  • How many times the spun-bonded polypropylene fabric is used: 3 times. It should be set up the nursery 3 to 4 days prior of placing the spun-bonded polypropylene fabric.

3. Development of hydroponics technology for rice seedling

  • Days to grow seedling: when cultivated for 15 days, it grows up to 10.1cm (equivalent to the level of young seedling)
  • Method of facilitating the formation of mat: placing natural spun-bonded polypropylene fabric and covering it with bathroom tissue
  • Method of supplying nutrient solution: supply a Yoshida solution one time at 5 days after sowing seeds

4. Development for early rice cultivation system in greenhouse vegetable cultivation area

  • Selection of adaptive varieties: 5 varieties including Sangsanbyeo, transplanting the seedling around Apr. 20. (Therefore, the rice can be harvested in last 10 days of Aug.)
  • Applicable cropping system: rice + barley, eggplant, tomato, cucumber, pepper, melon, and cabbage
  • Raising the use efficiency of Rice Processing Complex(RPC) though early harvesting system from 35 days to 50 days

5. Research on the increase of rice production through the late rice cultivation system after greenhouse vegetable harvest

  • Selection of varieties for late cultivation system : Geurubyeo, and Geumobyeo 1 (short-term cultivation varieties)
  • Days of raising seedling: 30 to 40 days

6. Development of labor saving technology of raising rice seedling

  • Development of hydroponics technology: with proper EC, warming effect and auxiliary devices
  • Research on the growing method of rice seedling by utilizing seedbed for vegetables: period, soil and labor cost
  • Research of minimum bed soil for raising seedling

7. Establishment of production system for rice for early harvest in southern area

  • Research on critical transplanting date for early harvest and proper seedling method: raising seedling in improved greenhouse, etc.
  • Test experiments for early cultivation in farmer's fields: 3 ha in three locations
