R&D
- Research on the production of onion in labor-saving and safe manner
- Research on stable production and supply of standardized export products.
- Research on how well the mechanization can be applied in cultivating crops.
- Research on how environmentally-friendly agricultural technology can be developed.
Performance
1.Developing the technology to produce onion stably.
- Raising species: Selecting good species: 24 and checking the productivity :3
- Selecting proper covering material in case of plug seed culture: reducing labor by 88% by using net.
- Inhibiting Rhizoctonia disease with chemicals: With Pensicuron, the disease can be eliminated by 85 %.
- Research on the proper volume in nitrogen fertilizer with Shallot: Increased by 15% to 30kg/10a.
- Registering patent for the manufacturing method of onion fermented liquor: alcohol content: 12.8%.
- Main fermenting processes
- Selection of good material → Cleaning → Cutting and squashing → Extraction of juice → Addition of sugar (adjusting it to 25%) → Sterilization → Inoculation of 5% of fermenting liquid → Fermenting (25℃ , 9-13 days) → Onion liquor.
- Characteristics and effects
- It is good for adult disease such as prevention of hypertension, cure of diabetes and heart disease, and control of weight, etc.
2.Developing an automatic onion transplanting machine and seedbeds
- Developed the automatic onion transplanting machine equipped on sulky management machine which was registered as patent.
- It reduced labor from 50.2 hours/10a to 2.5 hours/10a.
- Developing the device to fix the automatic onion transplanting machine to cultivator.
- Insert it into seedbed → Lift the seedling → Transport and divide → Transplant and suppress → Discharge the seedbed.
- Developing the seedbed tray proper to the automatic onion transplanting machine (registered as new design)
- Developed products: circular synthetic resin products with 348 holes and rectangular products.
- Expected effects from tray seedbed.
- Reduced space for tray seedbed: from 40-50 m2/10a to 30 m2 /10a.
- Reduced seeds consumption required: from 8 ㎗/10a to 4 ㎗ /10a.
Future plan
- Developing good onion species: selecting good species: 36, verifying the productivity : 5
- Research on plug seedbed technology for mechanized transplanting: selecting proper coating inhibitor, coating material, and coagulants
- Establishing the culture technology of spring onion at flat field: 4 projects including the selection of proper species.
- Research on raising good shallot species and how to harvest more crops: Selecting species, and productions by regions.
